Job Description

One where business& technology supports both economical & environmental sustainability.About the roleYoull be working in the design team and reporting to the design manager. The design team produce CAD designs, 3D models, interface designs, 2D drawings, marketing images, and process storyboards and support the projects and engineering teams in the developmentand customisation of products. You will work in all stages of the design lifecycle from concept to detailed design.Were looking for Designers with industrial experience in the design of mechanical or structural products, systems or equipment using CAD. Experience in the design of offshore equipment or structures is desirable but not essential. Experience in the creationof manufacturing drawings and BOMs, is required and experience in fabrication drawings would be advantageous. Above all, we are looking for people who are enthusiastic about design and engineering, and are passionate about reaching their full potential.ResponsibilitiesThe Design Engineer will carry out design work allocated by the Design Manager. The work is expected to include:* Creation of large, complex CAD assembly models of marine energy systems.* Conceptual and detailed designs of systems, assemblies and components in CAD.* Import, integrate and check designs from other designers and organisations.* Create detailed 2D drawings for construction of the systems, assemblies and components.* Support in house teams in solving design, packaging and technical problems.* Support the creation of detailed technical specifications.* Create storyboards and instructions for the use and operation of systems.* Carry out design calculations and complete associated reports for review (E.g. tolerance studies).Carry out research to support design work (e.g. sourcing off the shelf components for use in systems).* Create renderings and visualisations of marine energy systems.* Manage responsibilities diligently, prioritising tasks effectively to hit targets and communicate clearly to the Lead Design Engineer.* Follow design processes.* May perform strength and fatigue analysis using FEM tools.* Participate in design risk assessment.Essential Skills & Experience* Degree/HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.* Minimum of 1 year of relevant industry experience in systems and component design using computer aided design software.* Able to produce high quality CAD drawings of both components and large assemblies.* Good mechanical design capabilities and good understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.* Good problem solving skills and able to work with minimal supervision.Good organisational skills.* Proficient in English, both spoken and written.* Eligibility to live and work in the UK.* Valid UK Driving Licence.Desirable Skills & Experience* 3 years relevant industry experience in systems and component design using computer aided design software.* Experience in the use of Autodesk Inventor & Autodesk Vault.* Ability to carry out stress and fatigue analysis (FEA/CFD) in the product design suite.* Experience of designing steel structures/ marine structures / mechanical systems.* Experience of geometric tolerancing.* Experience of the renewable energy field.* Experience of quality control systems You will be working from their Swansea office.You will be joining us at a very exciting time with an opportunity to be surrounded by like-minded people who share their vision for the future and you will be working in a challenging and fast-paced environment where your efforts are both valued and rewarded.You will be given clear responsibilities, empowered to succeed, and provided with the support you need to do that.
