About the jobAs an Application Support Engineer, you will work with the wider applications support team to maintain current IT systems, react to incidents that might occur and be involved in continuous improvement activities. This will mean you are comfortable workingon a range of services, across multiple products and technologies, covering both legacy and new cloud-based applications using strong analytical skills to develop and support the DVLAs applications.This role will involve the support, maintenance and continual improvement of the DVLAs internal and customer facing applications, additionally participating in the programme to migrate legacy technology onto new cloud-based platforms, ensuring that thesolutions are supportable and fit for purpose.About youYou will have Application Support experience and be able to diagnose and manage incidents of varying size and urgency. You will also have coding experience, following standards and have an understanding of software development methodologies. You will have strongcommunication and analytical skills in order to work with colleagues to overcome challenges and improve our service. Experience in application support/development, using a recognized programming language such as C, java and one or more of the following technologiesis key: SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX Shell scripting and Oracle databases. A combination of experience in cloud based and on premises server solutions would also be beneficial as we move on to more cloud based platforms.ResponsibilitiesInclude but not limited to:
