Job Description

Trainee Regional Programmes Health and Wellbeing PractitionerLocation: Based at HMP Highdown and supporting programme delivery at HMP Downview, HMP Send, HMP Coldingley and HMP Bronzefield.Salary: £21,749 per annumWould you like a meaningful career supporting people with addiction issues Would you like a career where no day is the sameAre you proactive, resilient, resourceful and able to manage well in an ever-changing environmentThe Forward Trust, are a UK leading provider of drug and alcohol treatment services to offenders. We deliver treatment and recovery support - in prisons and in the community - which helps people move away from addiction and crime. These services providea variety of support, including advice, counselling, group work and intensive treatment.The RoleAs part of the traineeship you will be shadowing a member of the team and will be given guidance and support working through the various aspects of the role in the business unit you have been assigned to. The team member you will be shadowing will help ensureyou are receiving the training and development needed to become competent in the role. You will receive regular reviews to ensure that you stay on track to successfully complete the traineeship and undertake the compulsory therapy as part of the traineeship.Part of your time on the traineeship will be spent working, gaining the practical experience and part studying towards achieving the qualification that has been assigned (subject to criteria). As part of the Regional programmes team you will be based atHMP Highdown, and providing programme delivery support to; HMP Downview, HMP Send, HMP Coldingley and HMP Bronzefield.Trainees will receive specific training, mentoring and supervision which will enable them to develop skills in:

  • Reviewing ongoing care and treatment, liaising closely with healthcare and other agencies
  • Co-facilitating groups and programmes to the standard required
  • Multi-disciplinary and integrated ways of working
  • Carrying out assessments risk/initial/comprehensive
  • Contributing to the through care needs of service users.
What we are looking for
  • An ability to set and maintain professional boundaries
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • An understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults in recovery with experience of previous offending.
  • Able to manage own workload effectively to deadlines and targets
  • Understanding of, and commitment to the principles of equal opportunity and client confidentiality
  • A full UK driving licence.
