Job Description

Job Title: Technical ManagerCompany: IMCD UK LimitedLocation: LondonSalary: £60,000 - £85,000 per annum + bonus & company car/car allowancePosting date: 3rd August 2020Closing date of advert: 31st August 2020Job Type: PermanentThe Technical Manager/Pharmacist provides technical support to sales managers and customers for excipient technology and formulation development, primarily for immediate and modified release solid dose development, managing key projects, and small scale and commercial scale trial support. Presentations at internal and external training workshops on excipient technology and formulation development will also be required. Liaise with Global Technical Marketing team and our Principals to ensure strategic initiatives are coordinated and delivered to our sales teams and customers.Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Technical support activities and coordination of IMCD technical resources
  • Develop and lead technical application discussions with customers and sales teams using the various technical information tools available.
  • Ability to understand customer core formulation and guide development and troubleshooting strategies.
  • Recommend excipients and processes based on customers’ targets.
  • Coordinate the provision of product samples to the customer in a timely fashion in close cooperation with the sample department, sales managers and principals.
  • Travel to customers’ research, development and manufacturing sites to promote and support the use of Principals products.
  • Prepare and present technical information (oral and written) for both internal and external training seminars and workshops and product promotion events.
  • Collaborate with Technical Marketing Team for coordinated promotion of new products and initiatives.
  • Prepare Key Project reports, customer visit itineraries, and associated reports.
  • Use CRM software tools to request samples, maintain project database, and capture notes of key customer interactions.
    • Required Skills/Experience:
  • Must have a high degree of fluency in English and have the ability to speak, read and write in English.
  • Must possess the ability to problem solve, rapidly and efficiently
  • Must also be proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline required. Advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in pharmaceutical laboratory or industrial pharmacy environment with an emphasis on solid dosage formulation and coating for both immediate and modified release applications
  • An understanding of the pharmaceutical development and registration process is preferred.
  • Knowledge of major pharmaceutical processes and formulation and manufacturing of finished dosage forms.
  • Previous experience giving technical presentations at an academic or industry forum required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Background as a Pharmacist or similar background preferred
  • Strong exposure to customer interaction
  • Ideal candidate will possess commercial abilities as well as technical abilities.
