Job Description

  • ALS Course
  • Cardiac Surgical Nursing Online Course
  • Cardiac Surgical ALS (CALS)
  • Resuscitation and Acute Catheter lab Emergencies REACT
  • Thoracic and Cardiology Online Course.
You will work closely alongside the on-site Critical Care Educator to develop your competencies further and establish personal learning & development objectives.This is a fantastic opportunity to build upon your current clinical skills. As an Senior Staff Nurse (ITU) you will be working within a specialist eight bedded ITU.The site performs a wide range or surgical procedures covering multiple specialties such as complex, major cardio-thoracic surgery, major spinal and orthopedic surgery, complex maxillofacial reconstructive surgery for cancer treatment, major gynecologicaland general surgery procedures and many more.There is round the clock cardiac surgical cover by having a cardiac surgical specialist registrar on-site, as well as an on-call perfusionist and cardiac team. The ITU has the back up of a wide variety of clinical specialists, such as consultant intensiviststo provide additional support should it be required. There is also an ITU Resident Medical Officer on site 24/7.Positions are full time (37.5 hours per week) which includes weekends and nights currently (rota), although part time hours will also be considered.Informal discussions are welcomed if you would like some further information.Person Specification: To succeed in this role you will need to:
  • Be NMC registered - your PIN should not have any restrictions or conditions.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years ITU experience
  • ICU training
  • Be compassionate and able to showcase excellent patient care with strong communication skills
