Job Description

Secondary Art and Design teacher for January 2023Tradewind seek a dynamic and inspiring teacher of Art & Design to join a vibrant Art department in Sutton, SW London.This school in Sutton Is a modern, high performing Academy with state of the art facilities. Successfully educating students aged 11-18 in a safe and supportive environment.Art at this school is a popular option at both GCSE and A Level and is a pivotal feature of the schools curriculum. All students study Art in KS3 and the school offers three GCSEs, in Visual Art, Graphic Communication and Textiles.They also have a dedicated Sixth Form studio for their popular Fine Art A level course.This post is suitable for an NQT or a more experienced practitioner, for whom excellent support would be available. Regular professional development courses are also available for teachers at any stage of their teaching career.The successful candidate must have Qualified Teacher Status and the relevant qualification to teach Art & Design to an advanced level.The ability to teach / experience of teaching DT will also be an advantage but not essential.All suitable candidates will also have the following:

  • Evidence of successful teaching across a wide range of abilities.
  • Up to date knowledge of the Art & Design curriculum and assessment procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the processes by which students can achieve highly.
  • Excellent organisational and classroom management skills;
  • Ability to analyse and use data to set and monitor targets
  • The ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their potential
