Our responsibilities include: • Plan and deliver major capital projects and lifecycle refurbishment • Provide utilities services • Manage soft facilities management (i.e. cleaning and catering) • Provide a safe place to train • Allocate Service Families Accommodation • Procure and manage routine maintenance and reactive repair • Provide a central register of asset information to advise infrastructure planning • Act as steward of the Defence estate • Provide the unarmed guarding service We employ approximately 4,900 staff from a very diverse range of professions, and we work across the world; in Germany, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands, Norway, Poland, Kenya, Belize, Nepal and Oman. Conflict within the cyber domain threatens our resilience, our cohesion and our global interests. Our data and information have been weaponised and so our response to protecting these assets must be proportional. We must not underestimate the response required to counter global cyber threats from state and non-state actors. Reducing the cyber risk in Defence is critical to the security and prosperity of our country, all our colleagues, our operations and our families and friends. In the light of the developing threat in the Cyber sphere and other environments, the UK Armed Forces are continuing to develop capabilities in the Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4i) sector. Many of these projects have a significant infrastructure component and require higher levels of security in their design and deliver than mainstream infrastructure projects. DIO is enhancing its existing capability in this sphere and is looking for a project manager to play a lead role in delivering a range of important improvements to cyber, intelligence, special forces and other sensitive capabilities, working closely with customers in the UK Strategic Command within the Ministry of Defence, and other Defence and Government organisations.ResponsibilitiesMain Responsibilities• Understand, monitor and respond to the demand signal in the C4i capability sector within UK Defence. Communicate and build commitment to a shared vision and sense of purpose in the delivery sector. • Develop and maintain the project delivery plan critical path to monitor project progress. Recognise and track interdependencies across project workstreams. • Recommend how financial and other resources be allocated across improvement initiatives to optimise the organisation’s return on investment and develop strategies to address resource gaps. • Identify and monitor project risks, planning and implementing responses to them and responding to other issues impacting the wider portfolio. • Support work on improvement agenda for project and programmes approvals processes. • Communicate regularly with stakeholders and customers and engage in debate to resolve issues and differences and challenge assumptions.
