Our responsibilities include: • Plan and deliver major capital projects and lifecycle refurbishment • Provide utilities services • Manage soft facilities management (i.e. cleaning and catering) • Provide a safe place to train • Allocate Service Families Accommodation • Procure and manage routine maintenance and reactive repair • Provide a central register of asset information to advise infrastructure planning • Act as steward of the Defence estate • Provide the unarmed guarding service We employ approximately 4,900 staff from a very diverse range of professions, and we work across the world; in Germany, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands, Norway, Poland, Kenya, Belize, Nepal and Oman. You can view our YouTube video to see more about our workJob descriptionThe ChallengeCorporate governance, risk management and assurance are some of the most important areas of financial management and control and this opportunity sits at the heart of this work. The DIO Senior Compliance Manager role’s primary purpose is to provide strategic support to DIO by managing the effective delivery of Financial compliance, control, risk management and assurance activities across the Finance Directorate. Success in this role will be measured by an ability to build awareness and capability across DIO in financial governance, sharing ‘learning moments’ and championing best practice across Finance and DIO. You’ll interact with a range of stakeholders across DIO and the wider Department, working collaboratively in cross functional teams including wider assurance and corporate governance groups and with good visibility to Senior Leadership within DIO and the wider Department. The role sits in DIO’s Financial Accounting team, a small team of experienced professionals providing financial accounting reporting for the organisation and governance across the Finance function.Responsibilities• Provide governance, interpretation, advice and guidance on compliance requirements across the Finance community. Drive consistent application of appropriate behaviours and practice across the wider organisation through engaging and influencing widely. • Overseeing and managing the design and application of the finance control framework within DIO. Drive associated continuous improvement activities across the function. • Oversee and support DIO Finance’s input into related assurance activities, including the Annual Assurance Return and supporting activities. • Manage the application of financial delegations, RACI matrices and financial governance frameworks / activities across the function. • Use collaborative and open communication to manage multiple stakeholders and competing requirements to develop compliance activities to deliver improvement in controls and assurance Desirable Experience & SkillsExperience • Assurance and corporate governance experience Qualification • CCAB or CIMA qualified About DIODIO is part of the Ministry of Defence (MOD).
