Job Description

Print is dead, good.Baffles me that people see the print industry as an archaic old school medium to communicate marketing strategies. The kind of stuff this company can do, will blow your mind!Youll be joining this well-established, creative, hands-on print manufacturing business as Operations Manager. Youll love to have the hybrid role of hands-on but strategic planning and execution of operational plans to streamline, improve and enhance operationalperformance. The MD is a Salesperson. Very strong commercially as youd expect and would like to have the balance and input from an industry-proven Operational person.Youll want to be thrown into the mix very early on, assessing what is done, why its done in that way and looking for ways to improve. Youll have direct reports covering Production and Studio, a combined headcount of C 20 people. Team and people managementexperience is a must.As an Operations person, youll be used to salespeople saying things can be done to clients and putting you in a difficult position of making stuff happen. Most of the time you can work miracles but here, you shouldnt have to as youll be part of the SLTmaking sure that in-house and outsourced capabilities are strongly reinforced and communicated. No last-minute surprises in this job. Who am I kidding, this is print we are talking about!A lot of this role is about engagement. Its communicating with your team about the forward strategy, the plans, and the processes that need to be followed and then working with the team to make sure this is executed. Youll not be shy at rolling up yoursleeves and getting sh!t done. Its that type of environment.Rest assured, you are joining a business that knows what they are doing. Theyve done it for a long time now. This is an exciting time for them, in pure growth mode and some ambitious targets in place for some serious developments. Youll be integral inthose plans and their implementation of them.Located in Birmingham with some impressive facilities, theres not much this business cant produce in-house. An impressive array of printers spanning 1.8m through to 5m wide printers through to the latest finishing equipment in Zunds and Kongsberg. Walkingaround, you get a real sense of what can be achieved as you meet the friendly In house creative studio, client services team and sales team. As a recruiter in the industry for many years, Ive seen some production facilities and this one is up there for whatis a very impressive set-up.Operational Management, team management, knowledge of the printing (ideally large format/signage/exhibition display) industry and being a good soul is important for this one. Oh, and to be able to get into the Birmingham facility as this is very much a hands-ontype of role.I know youll have a lot of questions, so please do get in touch.
