Job Description

Security Systems / Support EngineerLeatherhead, Surrey£25,000 - £40,000 DOEI am seeking a Systems / Support Engineer with an interest for Security to join a world-class provider of IT & Security based solutions, based in SurreyReporting into the Group Head of IT, provide essential business support for all users both on site and at remote locations with the minimum of disruption to their working environment by consistently securing and managing the estate of high quality systems and networks.Responsibilities

  • Ensure that existing systems are deployed and kept secure
  • Ensure that penetration and vulnerability testing is completed and respond to recommendations accordingly
  • Responding to SEIM SOC issue and liaising with the SOC team
  • Subject Matter Expert on all aspects of system security, including network, servers, workstation, Cloud and data
  • Devise secure system solutions to support the needs of the business
  • Work with the Group Technical Project Manager to ensure that security is at the heart of all new systems, create/update documentation, where appropriate, including architecture diagrams and designs
  • Ensure that new systems are designed and deployed in a secure manor
  • Be a security SME on all projects which may include but not limited to, server builds, liaising with external resources (suppliers/manufacturers/support providers), Hardware configuration, application installation and configuration
  • Ensure that existing systems are secure
  • Pro-active advice and direction on security including patching, firewall, Vulnerabilities, cloud, data protection, etc
  • Creation of knowledgebase articles
  • Creation and execution of Change Requests
  • Point of technical escalation to the Server Support Engineer and Systems and Project Implementation Engineers job role
  • Provide consistently professional and high-quality interface between Systems Support and its customers.
  • Desirable Knowledge
  • Firewall: Checkpoint/PFsense, Cloudflare, Netscaler
  • Cloud: Microsoft 365, Azure
  • Operating Systems - Windows Server, Linux, Windows Desktop
  • Unified Communications/Messaging - Exchange, Mimecast, Microsoft Teams
  • Databases - SQL Server
  • Web: IIS secure configuration
  • Working in a ITIL/change managed environment
  • Additional Knowledge Skills
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Ability to provide training to other team members, and other employees
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Good documentation skills
  • Previous experience in Service Desk and fault finding
  • Current valid driving licence

  • Necessary training on products and applications where required.
  • A full induction programme will be provided to assist in integration to the organisation. The individual will also be expected to attend training courses and take exams to assist with keeping up the business’s vendor accreditations.
  • Additional Information
  • Based at Head Office, Surrey, however remote working initially due to current restrictions
  • Occasional visits to other company offices may be required.
  • Occasional out-of-hours work may be required.
