Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Guildford Locality Team in Surrey. This role is a full-time position, however we would consider part-time applicants.Theres never been a more exciting time to join Adult Social Care in Surrey County Council. Join us now, and youll get to be part of the journey right from the start.As a senior member of the team, you will have an influence on the future development of the service. Youll bring our reablement ethos to life, leading holistic assessments of social care needs and planning support across a dedicated caseload. In all that you do, youll promote independence, choice and control. You will take every opportunity to support and develop those around you. Working closely with families and carers, youll play a vital role in supporting people from diverse backgrounds, with a wide range of needs.Youll need to be a professionally qualified and registered OT with proven, excellent, supervisory skills and a proactive, person-centred approach to your work. A substantial contemporary post-registration track record, including routine experience of complex casework and risk assessment, is crucial. Knowledge of social care policy and legislation is essential, as is a background in working directly with people with variable, unstable or challenging social care needs. The ability to get the best out of others and work collaboratively with partner agencies is equally important, and you must have outstanding assessment skills.You give us your best, and well give you ours. You will be confident and competent in working with people with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments. You will have well developed skills in professional assessment and risk assessment, excellent communication skills and the ability to work professionally in a multidisciplinary / multi-agency context.You will need to have competent IT skills and be able and willing to learn to use a variety of software systems.To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • An ability to undertake moving & handling assessments; major adaptation assessments for the Disabled Facilities Grant; and knowledge of specialist equipment
  • Knowledge of support planning and carers assessments
  • Flexibility to work across the County of Surrey and also visit placements across the county
  • An Occupational Therapy degree / registration with HCPC / current M&H training
  • Driving licence eligible to drive in UK and use of car is essential
