Hybrid working may be considered for this role.Working in a role like this is so advantageous...You will be carrying lower caseloads, have the opportunity to gain great experience within domestic violence or to expand on your existing knowledge. You will be doing something different from your currentoffender management role so will be a new exciting challenge for anyone thats keen to progress.PurposeFamily Safeguarding is a strength-based approach to working with the whole family, providing families with the right support when they need it to keep families together. Using strength-based practice to work alongside children and their families when theyexperience challenges to support them to build strong foundations and develop resilience so that children thrive. There will be times when children need protection to stop them being harmed. These children and their families will require support from statutoryservices, and work with partners to protect children from harm and support families.Main duties and responsibilities

  • Work with parents/carers with the aim of breaking the cycle of abusive behaviour.
  • Meet with both parents, most often within the family home (where safe to do so), to formulate an informed assessment of the difficulties the family is facing and work with the multidisciplinary Family Safeguarding team, and partners, with the shared aimof meeting the assessed needs of the family.
  • Deliver the Better Me, Better Us in-house programme which runs over 14 sessions including pre and post group sessions, a one to one session and where appropriate contact with a partner to monitor risk.
  • Identify behaviours and triggers and develop a plan of change in the best interest of the child/family.
  • Work positively alongside Probation colleagues, who continue to hold statutory responsibility for the person on probation to manage risk; sharing safeguarding concerns and ensuring that appropriate risk management plans are in place.
  • Referrals to other agencies such as Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and/or Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA).
  • Signpost families to other resources and services, such as Stalking and Harassment advocacy services and Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVA) services.
  • Liaise with the Police Domestic Abuse Investigation and Safeguarding Unit (DAISU) to share information contributing to risk management.
Person Specification
  • Experienced and qualified Probation Officer (Essential)
  • The ability to formulate evidenced risk assessments (Essential)
  • Car user, except where reasonable adjustments are applicable and available (Essential)
  • Experience of working with families who have known domestic abuse (Desirable)
  • Knowledge relating to initiatives such as Clares Law, local Stalking and Harassment advocacy services and Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVA) services (Desirable)
