Job Description

Are you a strong leader of finance teams, providing sound financial control in asset-heavy environments Are you looking for a role in which youll have a focus on people management and year end support in a successful Housing organisation Are you lookingfor a new contract role to run until after the new yearMy client is an established housing provider in Surrey with a diverse portfolio that has seen steady growth over recent years. They are seeking an Interim Financial Controller for a maternity cover period of 6-9 months on a fixed term contract to cover thefollowing responsibilities:

  • Lead a sizeable finance team, managing managers in financial transactions, rents and service charges, financial accounting, payroll and finance systems
  • Act as the key point of contact for external auditors, leading audit up to presentation to audit committee
  • Lead on all matters relating to taxation, including VAT, reverse charge and partial exemption, Corporation Tax and Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
  • Create, nurture and deliver an environment of sound financial control and maintain the strict policies and procedures that are in place, making improvements where possible
  • Have responsibility for the day to day management of financial systems and deliver accuracy in the financial data being recorded.
The organisation has enjoyed its growth and stability throughout the pandemic and quickly adapted a new way of working, meaning the successful candidate can do a significant amount of work remotely if desired.To be considered, you should:
  • Be a fully qualified accountant with post qualification experience as a leader of Finance teams, ideally being familiar with leading remote teams effectively
  • Have strong technical skills along with the ability to engage and interact with non-finance stakeholders
  • Ideally come from within the Housing sector, though those from other asset-heavy sectors, or the wider not for profit world, can also be considered and should be encouraged to apply.
