Job Description

Gas Detection Workshop Manager - SurreyAlecto recruitment are currently representing an industry leading Gas detection and Environmental Monitoring company based in Surrey, who are now looking to appoint a Trainee Workshop Manager in to a long term role.My client Design, manufacture, test, supply, install, commission and service fixed continuous gas detection equipment and environmental monitoring systems in a variety of environment to include;Sewage Treatment Works, Ministry of Defence, Facility Management, Semiconductor Plants, and University Clean rooms amongst others.Being a forward thinking company, they are now planning a phased handover of responsibilities within the Workshop Management capacity, and offering the successful candidate a two year training program before promotion to Workshop Manager.The role of Workshop Manager is a dual role, with responsibility to manage the workshop, booking in parts, organizing their dispatch, testing systems in house, repairs in-house, assistance to Service Engineers with servicing, commissioning, demonstration and training.You will also be responsible for the PPE, tools and test gas budget for the company.This is primarily a workshop-based position, but you will also be required to provide technical support both in-house and externally.This role would suit a mature person with an engineering background who is a good organizer and communicator and is willing to learn additional skillsDuties:* Responsible for Service Engineers* Financial Responsibilities: Negotiating with suppliers for better prices or seeking alternative suppliers with better prices for purchased items.* Tools budget, PPE budget and Test Gas budget.* Perform testing of repaired items* Test and where necessary configure supplied products* Maintain the technical folders library* Check and re-order both the workshop and engineers test gases* Maintain accurate records of the workshop and the engineers test equipment* Prepare hire equipment and/or check on its return* Provide technical support to the sales department for the preparation of quotations/tender documents.* Liaise with installation partner to support the install of our systems.The candidate:This role would suit a mature person with an engineering background, who is a good organizer and communicator, willing to learn additional skills.You must possess a basic understanding of electronics/electrical circuits and a practical background with gas detection or similar equipment experience will be hugely advantageous - although training will be provided.Skills & abilities most sought:* Be computer literate* Have good communication skills* Logical thought process* Problem solving* Use of company AutoCAD system (training will be provided)* Use of Xero accounting software package (training will be provided)* Use of Tidy Stock control system (training will be provided)* Basic understanding of electronics and electrical circuits.* A practical background with gas detection or similar equipment experiencePackage:Salary: Up to £32,000 based on experience (plus potential of annual bonus in December based on company performance) will rise to £35,000 at the end of the two-year handover period.Hours: - Monday - Friday 8.30 am - 4.30 pm excluding Bank HolidaysHoliday: - 23 days plus Bank Holidays increasing to 25 days after 2 successive years employmentBenefits: - Workplace Pension- Company van (business use only so not classified as benefit in kind)- Mobile and iPad for business useIf you believe you can fulfil this position then do not hesitate to apply today.To apply for this role and find out more details, please forward your CV to Chris Williams, Alecto Recruitment. or call in strict confidence.Alecto Recruitment Limited is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.If your experience matches please forward your CV immediately.We thank all applicants who respond, but only those short listed will be contacted.For more information about the positions we are currently recruiting for, please take a look at www.alectorecruitment.com or follow us on Twitter @alectorecruit Required skills
