Job Description

Weapon Systems Engineers - Defence and Military Systems - Permanent Attractive - West Midlands or North-East, Hybrid Weapon Systems Engineers are required to join an International Defence Systems company that designs, manufactures, and supports world leading military Systems. The successful Weapon Systems Engineers will be integrated into the team and be involved with large Military Engineering Programmes . As part of the team, you will be given the opportunity of professional development and career progression.The Weapon Systems Engineers will be working as part of engineering teams to develop Weapon Systems solutions as required. The Weapon Systems Engineers require a high level of technical expertise in order that the products meet the required level of safety, quality, and performance.The Weapon Systems Engineers must be team players to provide engineering capability and complex Systems engineering solutions. The Weapon Systems Engineers will be getting involved in the creation and definition of technical solutions, including weapon system design and integration at the system and sub-system level.Weapon Systems Engineers will be responsible for the following:

  • Application of appropriate Defence Standards for weapon systems.
  • Specification and design of complex electro-mechanical systems and sub-systems.
  • Weapon or Gun Control Systems design and validation.
  • Systems Analysis of customer and stakeholder requirements.
  • System and component levels using Systems Requirements tools (DOORS).
  • Development of System and system design documentation including system specifications.
  • Experience with Systems customer acceptance reports.
  • Working with Customer, Engineering and Procurement teams.
  • Supporting the design review process in accordance with Systems development lifecycle.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, briefings, and design reviews.
  • The generation and review of Systems technical reports and reporting on progress.
The Weapon Systems Engineers should have the following Qualifications Skills or Experience:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline with postgraduate experience within an engineering environment.
  • Hold or be progressing towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
  • Ideally understand Defence and Weapon Systems and their development.
  • Knowledge and application of appropriate Defence Standards for military systems.
  • Requirements management, specification and design of complex electro-mechanical systems and sub-systems.
  • Weapon Control Systems design and validation.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Be self-motivated and be able to work with the minimum of supervision within a team
  • Ideally understand SysML, Microsoft Office and DOORS
  • Product Life-cycle Management tools such as Teamcenter
  • Good awareness of Security implications for technical material
  • Design for Safety and Support and Commercial considerations
