Job Title: Support Desk Software DeveloperLocation: SunderlandSalary: Dependant on ExperienceJob Type: Full Time, 37.5hrs (Mon - Fri, 10am-4pm) Hybrid work offeredCompany Profile:We are looking for Graduates - Mid level Developers.DEF Software is a vibrant, highly successful software house made up of a team of proven, top grade professionals with a client portfolio encompassing local government across England and Wales. DEF develops, implements and supports software modules that controland deliver Planning, Building Control, Highways and eGovernment amongst other functions. In the main, we create products using PowerBuilder, C# and the latest frameworks including .Net Core. Were looking for an ambitious software developer to join us hereat DEF in a support desk capacity. Due to exceptional growth, we are looking to add additional members to our Support Desk team. The successful applicant will a join a professional and innovative team, that strive to achieve 100% customer satisfaction. Therole of support desk software developer is very important to us as it drives a significant proportion of our revenue and retains customers.Job Overview:

• You will need to demonstrate imaginative problem solving skills and the ability to create solid maintainable code.
• We also expect the successful applicant to be able to communicate clearly and professionally with our clients as well as team members. Client contact is an important part of the role, since you will be expected to be in day-to-day contact with our customers.We already score highly with current customers satisfaction based on the quality and responsiveness of our support, our friendliness, and the fact that customers can talk to someone who is technically equipped to quickly answer questions either based on theirknowledge or looking at the code.
• We are therefore looking for someone who is friendly and approachable as we already have great relationships with our customers.
• The projects here at DEF are extremely varied yet we primarily focus upon developing and expanding the footprint of our PowerBuilder authored "MasterGov" suite of products. We are currently converting the product to Microsoft .Net Core and C#, but the primaryimplementation is still PowerBuilder enhanced with .NET ancillary Windows Services and websites. Approximately half of your time will be spent on PowerBuilder, the other half being C# .Net. You will find yourself involved in systems scoping and specificationproduction, R&D, billed system modifications and client support.
• DEF Software are a Microsoft Partner with access to the latest Microsoft technology, and are therefore keen to utilise and explore technological advances. You will be expected to keep up to date with new technology and understand where this technology canbe safely applied. You will be backed up by a team of highly experienced software professionals.

Desired Skills:

• The successful applicant will bring development and preferably service desk experience either as part of a university computing degree or via commercial development projects. Whilst you will be surrounded by an outstanding team of developers and servicedesk staff to support your own development, you will be an individual who thrives on innovation and is comfortable in owning development tasks.
