Job Description

Sessional Community Support WorkerSalary: £10.91 per hourLocation: Various projects across Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, County Durham & Tees ValleyAbout the roleWorking in the Land and Communities team, you will engage with targeted participants who are involved with specific projects. In a diverse and busy environment, you will be supporting the Community Project Managers with the delivery of projects across theNorth East.Examples of projects may include:

  • Holiday Activities Programme, providing activities for children during school holidays (Easter, Summer, and Christmas)
  • Green Links, regular dementia friendly project
  • Active Play, a weekly childrens activity programme
  • Community Learning, adult courses which provide opportunities to learn new skills
  • Mens Sheds, providing an outdoor space for men to meet and connect
There is flexibility for Sessional Community Support Workers to work on the projects that they are most suited to and specify geographical areas they can deliver from, i.e., Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, County Durham, or Tees Valley.This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure endorsed by the Disclosure and Barring Service.About youWith experience of working with specific groups such as children, young people or vulnerable adults, or the willingness to learn, you will feel confident facilitating the delivery of a diverse programme of community led projects providing a professionalhigh-quality service that meets the needs of participants, partners, and funders. Comfortable working as part of a team, you should be able to follow direction and be able to build effective relationships with other members of staff, volunteers, participants,and external partners.You should be enthusiastic and flexible with a can do attitude. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will be able to encourage and engage effectively with project participants.This role may suit you if you have recently graduated in a relevant subject area or are a student looking to develop your skills and experience during the holidays.
