Job Description

Receptionist Title: ReceptionistBand: 2- £10.19/hourLocation: Sunderland Royal Hospital, however required to work across sites in Sunderland and South Tyneside locality.Start date: 3/5/2022End date: 30/6/2022Work Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8AM-1PM, 25 hours per weekThe Role:

  • To provide a high-quality reception service and care to patients attending the outpatient departments.
  • To be responsible for registering attendances and updating patient demographic details in the patient administration system.
  • To comply with the Trusts vision, values and behavioural compact.
Communications and Relationships:
  • Greet and receive patients, carers and other visitors to the outpatient department in a courteous and compassionate manner, acting as a contact point for patients and carers so that they are informed and provided with help appropriate to their needs.
  • Orientate patients to the outpatient department environment, providing appropriate verbal information to them about facilities and services.
  • Provide and receive messages accurately in a way that this is understood by the recipient, referring issues to the most appropriate person where necessary. This could be face to face, in writing or verbally and involve the use of photocopiers and computersystems.
  • Attend of department meetings, taking notes as required and contributing to discussions about the improvement of services.
  • Respond to informal complaints by patients, relatives or carers in the course of day-to-day duties, in line with local policy and procedures and escalate concerns you are unable to resolve to an appropriate person.
  • Escalate immediately any concerns regarding patient care to a more senior member of staff.
  • Have courage to raise concerns regarding quality and patient safety.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Previous experience in customer care role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent administration experience
