A Quality Engineer is sought by a manufacturing company in the Sunderland areaYOUR NEW JOBWorking within a busy quality team you will be responsible for using statistical tools such as PFMEA, CP, 8D and six sigma to deliver improvements in quality and reductions in cost caused by non-conformances, reworks, warranty returns etc. You will identifyand eliminate any systemic and recurring concerns, identify and implement a proactive quality plan using PFMEA, participate in APQP activities and engage production and engineering staff in quality initiatives to foster a "right first time" attitude to qualityand standards complianceYou will also prepare responses to the customer, both verbally and written regarding containment and permanent corrective actions liaise with customers when applicable to request concession approval / short term deviations and coach and lead employees inproblem solving activities providing structure and guidance to apply core tools such as Six Sigma confidentlyYou will also support the internal audit schedule by completing a range of audits over the course of the year, support customer with product validation which may involve attending customer premises and carry out supplier visits.YOUR SKILLS & QUALITIESTo succeed in this role you will need previous experience as a Quality Engineer and have a good knowledge of ISO9001 quality standards. A strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA and Six Sigma tools is needed as is the ability to carry out quality audits. Anunderstanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes coupled with the ability to work proactively is needed.You will need a background in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing, a working knowledge of Six Sigma and experience with using measuring equipment, eg. vernier caliper, micrometer, CMM. Any knowledge of Welding processes would be an advantage. Good problem-solving,analysis and team working skills are essential. You will ideally be a Certified Internal Auditor forISO9001, have a high level of IT literacy with a Six Sigma Green Belt certification a strong advantage.A BTEC ONC/OND in a Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing / Business or related discipline is also preferred.A good Quality Technician with the aptitude to succeed in a career developmental role will also be considered.APPLY NOWIf you would like more information about this exciting role please call Adam Jones at Major Recruitment or click Apply Now to send your CV
