Job Description

Mission & Main Objectives:

  • To support current model a position is now available for an experienced Quality Engineer with a specialist skill set in Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance techniques (full awareness of IATF16949:2016 is required), and a background of managing people.
    • Outline and Responsibilities:
  • To oversee a team of Quality Inspectors
  • To ensure achievement of quality, cost and delivery targets.
  • Act as Quality Window person for external stakeholder such as Customer/Supplier.
  • Liaise with technical staff (design, process engineering), manufacturing departments and global customer / suppliers during concern investigation, root cause analysis and countermeasure activities.
  • Utilise problem solving tools & techniques with good understanding / application of statistical methods.
  • Perform product and process audits (internal & supplier base)
  • Generate technical and management reports.
  • Manage project and product/process change.
  • Interpret new project requirements and generate QA plans for trial and launch activities.
  • Develop and maintain an APQP/PPAP system for external stakeholders (customer/supplier) integrating requirements within the BP systems.
  • Liaise with Corporate technical departments, and external test/academic institutions.
  • Flexibility to work and travel at short notice (including shift working).
  • To substitute for QA Senior Engineer when required.
    • Experience and Qualifications Required:
  • Educated to degree level in an appropriate technical subject.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and present data to make fact based decisions.
  • Experience in generating and Interpreting Engineering specifications/standards
  • Experience of third party audit / customer audit
  • Experience of IATF or TS16949
  • Experience of IATF/TS core tools (PPAP, APQP, MSA, FMEA, SPC)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - reporting throughout the business at all levels and with all functions will be required.
  • Excellent PC Skills including MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Prepared to travel within the UK / overseas at short notice as required.
  • Full driving license.
