Job Description

RECRUITMENTiQ is working in partnership witha global flexible packaging supplier supporting recognised brands for many of the Fortune 1000 packaged goods companies in North America, the UK and Europe.The business offers a range of customised packaging solutions across a product portfolio that includes multi-layer barrier laminates, pouches and speciality bags, and surface print/mono web reel fed-roll stock. The company specialises in packaging applicationsfor poultry and meat products, pet products, confectionery, snack food, bakery, personal care, and child-resistant products.The Role: As Maintenance Engineer, you will be tasked with providing wide-ranging engineering support across the Sunderland site, as well as providing a full and reliable service to all other departments.You will work closely with the UK Engineering Manager to supportproject implementation.The Maintenance Engineerwill work a continental shift pattern, consisting of four days on and four days off, 6 am-6 pm on two days and 6 pm-6 am on two nights. This is a permanent opportunity with an immediate start available for the right candidate.Your Responsibilities:

  • Offer prompt breakdown response to production machinery and equipment.
  • Perform regular planned maintenance as per schedule.
  • Collaborate on projects, assist with design, and manage installations.
  • Share suggestions for engineering enhancements across the site.
  • Monitor equipment performance, identify improvements, and perform modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Champion change initiatives to optimize equipment, safety, and hygiene.
Qualifications:
  • HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Electrical bias).
  • Time-served apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance.
  • NVQ Level 3 in maintenance operations or equivalent.
Experience:
  • Essential maintenance experience in a factory setting.
  • Post-apprenticeship experience is a plus.
Knowledge:
  • Proficiency in Motors/Drives, PLCs, and Gearbox/transmissions.
Skills:
  • Strong team player with excellent initiative.
  • Proven ability to manage changing priorities and schedules.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proactive mindset with effective communication skills.
