Job Description

Zenith People are working with our client who are a Manufacturer looking to recruit a Health & Safety Officer on a Fixed Term Basis.The purpose of this role is to

  • Assist in the completion of converting the facility into a suitable production facility with regard to health, safety and environmental management systems and processes.
  • Assisting the Engineering Manager in the day to day operation of the site, including Incident, accident investigation, compliance inspections and audits, risk assessment
  • Assisting in maintaining legal and other compliance.
  • Supporting the manager in achieving objectives and targets including:
  • Accreditation to ISO14001 standard
  • Delivery of behavioural based observation programme
  • PPE review
  • Ergonomics programme delivery
  • Claims investigation and a 10% accident reduction
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESWhilst the position is office based, you would be expected to visit the shop floor regularly in order to observe, implement and encourage a positive safety culture.You will be involved in change management and would be required to adhere to and be involved in the creation of Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, problem solve and work with operations and process engineering to promote cost effective safe solutionswhich reduce operator risk and improve efficiency.Functional Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the health safety and wellbeing of employees, contractors and visitors to site
  • Legal and corporate compliance
  • Delivery of safety and environmental related activities
  • Provide the methods and means to achieve Zero Harm.
Individual Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe working environment and excellent housekeeping standards
  • Other duties commensurate to the role.
EMPLOYMENT PREREQUISITESEssential
  • Nebosh certificate
  • 5 years safety experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of safety methods and processes
  • Be able to work own initiative and be able to liaise with other functions and departments at all levels within the Company
  • Experience with using Microsoft Office
  • Behaves in a professional manner
  • Good communicator who is open and honest
  • Focused on continuous improvement with a safety mindset
  • Organised and methodical with a result driven approach
  • Flexible with good decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Personable and approachable
Desirable but not essential
  • Flexible working hours
  • Full drivers licence
  • Safety engineering background
