Our client is a leading supplier of confocal and super resolution imaging solutions to the life sciences community worldwide. During the last twenty-two years the company has established its presence in the market as an innovator supplying prestigious institutesand Pharmaceuticals with leading edge solutions.Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 9.00am-6.00pm (Flexibility is required to work extra hours when needed).The company has built its success on a strong commitment to R&D and due to planned expansion of that function the company is currently looking for highly focused individuals to fill the post of Electronics Engineer.ShortThe successful candidate will join a small group of scientists and engineers and will become a key member of the team. Their individual responsibilities will include the maintenance and developmentof our control and acquisition software, Manager (C++/Java), all firmware (C/C#), design of basic PCBs for hardware control and communication with peripheral devices, and to aid in systemintegration and system development.Main Duties of the Role: Write new hardware drivers for Manager Fix existing firmware and driver bugs Develop basic system control PCBs Develop system control algorithms Manage existing IT systems Work with other engineers on R&D projects for new system development Work with customers on applications development Presenting ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals Producing detailed specifications and writing the program codes Testing the product in controlled, real situations before going live Preparation of user manuals and engineering documentation Maintaining the systems once they are up and running Maintaining and updating the web siteEssential Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Education to degree level (2:1 from a top University preferred) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Electronic Engineering, other Engineering disciplines may be considered based on experience Experience with embedded C programming Windows driver development experience Object orientated design and development knowledge Detailed knowledge of modern computer architectures PCB design knowledge and experience Ability to learn quickly Good written and verbal communication skills Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressurePreferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Experience in writing C++ code to communication with third party API Knowledge of VB and C# Experienced in developing MFC applications Experience in electronics Experience in microscopy and especially laser scanning microscopy Experience in "Real Time" applications Knowledge of networking protocols and technology Experience in web site development and web site maintenanceCareer Opportunities:This position offers a potential springboard for different roles within the company.
