Environment and Sustainability CoordinatorCompetitive SalaryNorth EastThe RoleWe are looking for a passionate and driven Environment and Sustainability Coordinator to join us on a permanent and full-time basis and help us raise the bar on environmental performance!In this role, you will be supporting a fast-growing business, striving to raise the bar with their environmental performance. The role involves full development & implementation of ISO14001 EMS and providing strategic advice relating to environmental, carbonand utilities management. We are currently carbon neutral within our own operations, but the ideal person will support the business in reviewing and developing environmental and sustainability strategies, leading the business roadmap to net zero.This is an excellent opportunity to join an established company that is going through an exciting period of growth and development.   • Develop & implement the ISO 14001 standard.
  • Work with the Marketing and Strategy Director to develop the ESG 3-year strategy.
  • Lead the net zero project working with external partner to develop roadmap and key milestones.
  • Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Ensure working practices comply with legislation.
  • Develop internal policy and communicate plans to internal teams.
  • Lead in-house training with managers and employees about Environmental & Sustainability issues and risks.
  • Keep up to date with competitor and industry activity and utilise learnings on ESG practices.
  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
  • Define and report key KPIs.
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all E&S legislation and any developments that affect the employers industry.
  • Attend relevant seminars and read professional journals.
  • Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins.
  • Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances.
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g., waste management, climate change and emissions, air and water pollution and energy efficiency.

The PersonThe key skills and qualities were looking for in our ideal candidate are:
  • Knowledge and experience on environmental carbon reduction strategies and net zero.
  • Degree in environmental studies preferable but not essential.
  • Interest in ESG and in improving business carbon footprint.
  • Project management skills, to deliver projects to objectives, on time, within budget, and with great attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of MS Office tools.
  • Confident, determined and driven.
  • Can do attitude.
  • Exceptional organisation and written English skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
  • Communication and presentation skills.
  • A team player with the ability to lead cross functional projects.
