Job Description

The CompanyEnvision AESC, a world leading lithium-ion battery producer, has recently announced ambitious investment plans to build Gigafactories in the UK and France having signed high volume supply contracts with Nissan and Renault. To support these exciting growth planswe are looking for an experienced and innovative Direct Materials Buyer to join the UK Purchasing function to drive forward localized sourcing of the key materials and components required for these plants.The Direct Materials Buyer must be fluent in Mandarin.Envision AESC has a hybrid working policy of a minimum 4 days per week on site with the option of 1 day per week home-working.The OpportunityWorking within a small team, the Direct Materials Buyer will cover the following:

  • Full Direct spend and supply analysis
  • Category market research
  • New supplier sourcing
  • Supplier performance management and review meetings
  • Representing Purchasing at key internal meetings
  • Building relationships x-functionally with key internal stakeholders
About YouThe Direct Materials Buyer will have/be:
  • Fluent Mandarin speaker essential
  • Proven strategic procurement track record (direct materials) and be able to demonstrate astrong technical understanding/understanding of manufacturing process
  • Procurement experience from Food/Chemicals/Battery Manufacturing desirable
  • Previous negotiation experience essential
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skillsconfident to challenge both internally and externally
  • Strong communication skills, adept at building relationships quickly
  • Resilient and adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced working environment
  • Proactive, assertive, confident decision maker with a hands-on, can do attitude
  • Diligent, efficient, strong prioritisation skillsable to deliver to deadline
