Job Description

Design Engineer required for a provider of piping systems based in Sunderland. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have experience in design engineering within a similar industry (piping, hydraulics, etc).Design Engineer - Piping Position Overview

  • Production of pipe work design at GS Hydro sites and customer sites where required.
  • Liaise with engineering, sales, procurement, and pipe work production to ensure required project lead times are achieved.
Responsible for routed systems, primarily hydraulic pipework and fabrication design, specification, preparation of bill of materials and any required material take offs per sub system prior to quotation and then from order placement through to implementationof the project.
  • Responsible for output from the design to schedules to meet required deadlines.
  • Working closely with Piping Manager and Project Engineer, projects, engineering, and sales teams from initial enquiry through to project completion, requires close teamwork.
  • Close teamwork with other departments and customers is crucial.
  • Meet with clients and customers as required to fully understand their requirements to enable GS-Hydro to provide the correct solution for the application that will meet the client and customers expectations.
  • Carrying out of site surveys and meetings at client and customer facilities.
Design Engineer - Piping Position RequirementsEngineering experience and ability to read and understand fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic circuits would be preferred but not essential.
  • Experience of specifying and understanding of hydraulic components preferred but not essential.
  • Proven ability to communicate through two- and three-dimensional media, such as technical drawings, CAD and 3D model making.
  • Microsoft Office 365 knowledge and skills (excel, PowerPoint, word etc
Vertex G4 Plant experience preferable but not essential. (Training would be provided)
  • Microsoft AX Knowledge preferable but not essential. (Training would be provided)
