The Role:We have a very exciting opportunity to support in the running of the Regional Cyber Crime Unit by performing a range of Cyber Protect and Prepare activities and initiatives to empower businesses and communities by making them aware of the risks, threatsand impact of cybercrime and how they might mitigate them as per a cyber-crime prevention role.To be part of a coordinated approach across the North East region of Northumbria, Durham, and Cleveland police for the provision of a tiered response to the UK Cyber threat in the form of these Cyber Protect and Prepare capabilities, services, advice andguidance.Skills, Knowledge, Main Duties and Responsibilities: Reduce the vulnerability of public, private and voluntary sector organisations by influencing protective security across their networks In depth knowledge of cyber enabled and cyber dependant threats. Recognising new cyber threats and taking the appropriate crime prevention action and messaging. Acting as an ambassador for NEROCU delivering presentations to professional bodies and the business community, taking part in Q and A sessions at conferences which may be technical in their nature. Demonstrate technical skill and knowledge, being able to demonstrate how vulnerabilities are exploited by hackers, potentially being able to use tools such as Kali Linux, Nessus and Shodan. Engaging and influencing businesses to adopt the national advice and guidance, products and services such as Cyber Essentials, Early Warning Service and Police CyberAlarm. Increase the reporting of cybercrime to police, through Action Fraud. Encourage sharing of intelligence through the Cyber Information Sharing Platform (CiSP). The successful candidate will be an ambassador for the CiSP. Horizon scanning for new trends and threats, managing and developing the North East Regional CiSP group,into a virtual neighbourhood watch for network defenders. Act as an expert within NEROCU and the three forces for all forms of cyber-crime prevention, reduction and reviewing/drafting/amending/updating associated strategies. Liaising with force information security officers to reduce vulnerability and increasingstaff awareness. Plan and participate in table top cyber-attack exercises, both internally and externally in order to test responses and disaster recovery plans. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, liaising and working with other teams both within and outside of NERSOU including the NCSC, National Crime Agency (NCA), and City of London Police.
