Job Description

The CompanyOur client is a market leader in their sector. As part of this growth they are now looking for a motivated Business Process and Software Analyst who is looking to grasp an outstanding career opportunity, and help a business grow and improve.The Role

  • Provide general day-to-day technical advice, support and trouble-shooting via phone/desk and remote support.
  • Analyse the requirements of the organisation and organise the IT resources of the organisation accordingly, choosing the most suitable software and hardware.
  • Maintain database systems using SQL server management Studio
  • Developing VB script within the ERP software to support the needs of the business.
  • Write SQL views and have the ability to write SQL to support the needs of the business.
  • Write reports and develop customer facing documents using Crystal reporting software.
  • Use of XML and XSL to support automation projects using Dataswitch software.
  • Audit and administer all IT systems - including K3 -Syspro, Gael - Q-Pulse, InfinityQS - Proficient, Microsoft - Outlook and Seagull - Bartender Label software.
  • Document ALL Development work and file in a structured manner.
  • Identify and train to an acceptable level any business-critical development.
  • Act as the interface with suppliers of our systems and act as the technical liaison.
  • Work closely with employees across all locations (UK, USA and Australia) to identify needs and prioritise projects.
  • Assist line managers and the Directors in researching/evaluating and implementing new technologies and IT projects, and lead on the installation and set-up of new IT systems
  • Lead on analysing performance issues and make recommendations to line managers/Directors on developing and implementing upgrades.
  • Provide on the job training for users; and ensure that instruction manuals are up to date and fit for purpose.
  • Provide emergency call support in line with company requirements.
  • Cover colleagues whenever possible during holidays and sickness.
  • Provide regular updates to line management on key activities.
  • Attend meetings, briefings and ad-hoc working groups as appropriate.
  • Take responsibility for specific IT related projects from time to time and as required researching, progressing and co-ordinating the project and making recommendations for future action within the Company. Research time will be incorporated into workinghours.
  • Adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
  • Co-operate in complying with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post.
  • Undertake relevant training/attend conferences and seminars in order to maintain professional standards.
  • Undertake other duties as requested by the line management. If any other duties become a regular requirement of the post, the Job Description will be reviewed.
  • Provide cover for absent colleagues.
  • Ensure that all employees adhere to existing IT policies and company policies, and also support any review and development of new policies.
The Person
  • Educated to degree level in IT, Mathematics , Physics, Computing, Engineering (BEng).
  • Demonstrate relevant experience in computing or information management gained in employment or via degree studied.
  • A sound knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft office.
  • A sound understanding of network and computer security.
  • Knowledge of SQL and an understanding of the SQL studio.
  • Sound technical knowledge about IT, security of systems and latest developments in the field.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and in particular Syspro, VB script knowledge, Crystal reporting.
  • Strong problem solving skills; ability to research and assess new equipment, trouble shoot and identify solutions.
  • Excellent communication, technical and project management skills.
  • Ability to work undirected and take responsibility.
  • Ability to respond to internal requests in an efficient and professional manner; and to juggle urgent support with longer-term projects.
  • Ability to document work and transfer knowledge to fellow colleagues.
  • Ability to work with databases - SQL/Access.
