Come rain or shine, yourlove of the outdoors will encourage others as you strive to ensure that landscapes are flawlessly presented and continue to take our visitors’ breath away.Derwent, Wear and Coast is a new portfolio bringing together Souter Lighthouse and the Leas, Durham Coast, Crook Hall Gardens, Gibside, Washington Old Hall and Penshaw Monument. The portfolio also works in partnership on two Green Corridors - the Tyne Derwent Way Green Corridor and the Durham Green Corridor. It gives us anopportunity to lead for Everyone Welcome and meaningfully connect people with the cause of the National Trust and deepen their connection to nature, beauty and history.The Tyne Derwent Way is a major opportunity to enable Gateshead communities to develop a figurative, emotional and functional connection to these special places along the route.The Durham City Green Corridor works to inspire communities & visitors to Durham to connect to and access nature.A summary of the portfolio is attached to this advert..AZ024 North East What youll be doing This is a crucial role in delivering for nature and access - you’ll be responsible for leading a small team of Rangers ensuring excellent standards of care, presentation and conservation focussing on our coastal properties, as well as working with the widerportfolio Ranger team.Following the Property’s Business Plan youll build and run an effective and flexible work programme for you and your team, building and maintaining strong professional relationships with colleagues, contractors, local communities and neighbouring land managers.You’ll also be responsible for helping with the excellent communication of our conservation work to a wide range of audiences, both new and existing, through events, guided walks and engagement with local communities.Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert. Who were looking for

  • Practical experience in land, access, and conservation management, preferably including delivery of small projects and supervision of contractors
  • Experience of developing and delivering work programs to meet conservation and access outcomes
  • Experience of leading and line managing teams of staff and/or volunteers
  • Practical skills applied across a broad range of habitats and estate management, preferably with certification in chainsaw use, tractor driving, and towing trailers
  • Able to work safely, leading on compliance including writing risk assessments as well as safety and environmental procedures
  • Demonstrate a passion for nature and the outdoors - able to engage with visitors to help them understand the value of our work
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.
