Job Description

Principal Electronics EngineerPermanent PositionMonday – Thursday 8am-4:30pm, Friday 1:30pm finishCompetitive Salary, 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays4x annual salary life assurance, pensionSunbury on ThamesOur client are a leading manufacturer providing specialist solutions to a variety of industries such as aerospace, power generation, rail and oil and gas industries. They are looking for a highly experienced Electronics Engineer to join the team.Principal Electronics Engineer

  • Involved in full product development lifecycle including product development contracts, bids & proposals, R&D activities and legacy production support.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
  • Leading the full lifecycle development of electronic elements of product development, involving analogue and digital electronics for control systems circuits, such as motor control.
  • Responsible for detailed design, analysis, validation and verification of electronic elements of product development
  • Responsible for the approval of electronics design, validation, and verification documentation
  • Develop designs using schematic capture and modelling tools and produce validation and verification documentation.
  • Produce EMC qualification test procedures from test requirements
  • Review PCB layouts produced by others including verifying the appropriate application of design guidelines
  • Support production yield problems and in-service failure investigations for electronic elements of products
  • Identify replacement electronic components arising from component obsolescence of in-production products
  • Support design and development of electronics related test equipment for testing high integrity electronics
  • Lead the preparation of electronic elements of technical proposals, costings and associated documentation to support business development opportunities.
  • Providing technical support to the sales teams to develop relationships and help secure work
Professional Knowledge & Experience:
  • 10 years or more experience of full lifecycle development of electronic elements used in product development, involving analogue and digital electronics for control systems circuits.
  • Experience of detailed design, analysis, validation and verification for electronics development
  • Able to develop electronic solutions within the constraints of a highly regulated industry and in consideration of technical/commercial requirements; designing to cost, having a right first time approach and balancing the engineering and programme needsof the customer.
  • Have experience of a high integrity design and manufacturing environment (Aero, Defence, Rail, Nuclear).
  • Experience of design techniques to meet stringent EMC/EMI requirements and associated verification testing.
  • Experience of PCB layout designs, and the application of PCB design rules.
  • Able to communicate and influence at all levels of the organisation through presentations, verbally and written, especially directed at customer interaction.
  • Project engineering / project management experience in an NPI environment
Education & Qualifications:Degree qualified in Electronic EngineeringPost graduate qualification would be advantageousChartered status would be advantageous
