Job Description

Trainee Electrical Engineer/Service Repair Technician Meyer Scott Ref: VR/08302Location: HuntingdonSalary: £18 - £19K per annum Trainee Position£30 - £35K Experienced Senior EngineerType: PermanentOur client is looking for a Trainee Electrical Engineer or an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer. Meyer Scott have been dealing with this Huntingdon based business for many years and can vouch for their professionalism and low staff turnover.Their products are used to control heat sources in a variety of manufacturing and repair applications which require the curing of pre-pregs, resins and adhesives.Purpose of role: Repair, calibrate, test, and perform quality control on equipment. Support customer visits with Technical Sales Engineer when required.You will be trained by an experienced team who will guide you and teach you about the product, its applications and how it is assembled, repaired, and installed so eventually you will be able to visit sites and calibrate and repair the equipment.You will learn an understanding of Ohms Law a formula used to calculate the relationship between voltage, current and resistance in an electrical circuit. Ability to apply concepts of arithmetic and geometry.This can be a trainee role offering great prospects if you can demonstrate a real interest in Electrical Engineering i.e. good science qualifications or some industry experience or hobby!Or it can be a role for someone more experienced/senior.Duties include:

  • Perform calibration and repair of equipment, including the production of Calibration Certificates.
  • Travel to visit customers and provide technical support on equipment with Technical Sales Engineer when necessary.
  • Test and troubleshoot manufactured assemblies and equipment to correct abnormal conditions.
  • Program process controllers and load software in equipment, including updating/upgrading hot bonder software when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment and systems using manufacturers documentation.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation, including accounting for all materials used and time expended.
  • Verify bill of materials to reflect actual parts used or configuration changes.
  • Initiate and process Non-conformance Reports (NCRs) and required documentation.
  • Continually seek to stay up-to-date on new equipment and product knowledge, (this may include travelling to Corporate Office to improve knowledge of repair procedures).
  • Adhere to and comply with the Quality Manual and procedures.
  • Assist with other tasks, as and when necessary.
Education and/or ExperienceTechnical program and two years of technical/electrical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to test and troubleshoot equipment; service calibration; provide technical sales support of electro-mechanical equipment; completeaccurate final quality control; and provide journeyman-level custom assembly, installation, and repair of electrical equipment and systems. Must have a working knowledge of electricity, electronics, hand and soldering tools, and have ability to read a multi-meter.Physical Demands The employee must regularly turn and twist while holding 25 pounds and lift and/or move 40 pounds.For the Trainee consideration, the right candidate will have the following:
  • S.C.E. or A levels in a Science preferably physics.
  • Practical common sense
  • The desire to learn and gain qualifications.
  • A good work ethic.
  • Very useful if you have passed your driving test so there is no barrier using company vehicles down the line.
  • Friendly personality as down the line, once trained you will be dealing with clients on site.
Hours: 9am - 5pm - Monday to Thursday and finishing Friday at 4.30pm
