Who They AreA really interesting job this one, Im working with a business based in East London (sort of Stratford way) that produce and install exhibitions for museums! Theyre a really nice boutique business and the work they deliver is top notch (think British Museum, the V&A etc.) The clients, combined with a strong culture and real ownership make this one a cracker. The specific brief is that were for someone to join their seven-strong senior management team, taking ownership of project delivery and client management for the business. What Youll Be DoingThis brief isnt really a hands on project management role. The focus is more on leading, mentoring and developing the project management team (currently five people), as well as taking overarching responsibility for the delivery of the work, in terms of both budgets and timelines. Youll be involved heavily in the RFI / tendering process (which most of their business comes through), setting up timelines and costings, and then ensuring that the team delivers the work on brief, on time and on budget. While you will be involved in the production team along with the wider business we arent looking for a production person - youll be spending more time setting project plans and financials rather than looking at material specs and how exactly the work will be put together. Along with delivery responsibility you will be part of the senior management team for the business, with the ability to shape things at the strategic level as well as in the day to day running of the business.YouOf course, experience in the world of design, fabrication & installation would be massively helpful - be that from a retail design agency, the hospitality fit-out sector, an experiential agency or (of course) an exhibition fit-out business. That to one side, were looking for a strong people manager who is used to looking after account and project managers. Indeed, given that youll be spending ~75% of your time doing this it is probably the most important part of the job. Ideally youll be extremely comfortable with being client facing, both as part of the ongoing working process and as part of pitching. It goes without saying that being interested in the culture sector is also a massive advantage. The usual character traits also apply - we want somebody who is positive, energetic and curious, with a can-do attitude and a knack for organisation. In short, its a great chance to take a on a unique role and become part of a world class team at a really nice boutique business with excellent clients. If you have the project and people management skills for this job, apply below! If it isnt quite right, there are plenty of other opportunities so take a look at the rest of the jobs weve posted.
