Job Description

DESKTOP SUPPORT TECHNICIAN / STOKE-ON-TRENT / COMPETITIVE PAY + BENEFITSRapiscan Systems is an industry leader in detection technology, providing cargo and vehicle inspection systems and services for ports, borders, military, high-threat facilities, and checkpoints to help customers combat terrorism, drug smuggling, illegalimmigration, and trade fraud.We offer a broad array of scanning system configurations that leverage low-, medium-, and high-energy X-ray technologyor multiple X-ray technologiesto address each customers unique security application requirements.Our commitment to excellence in imaging performance, innovative design, and uncompromising quality ensures our solutions consistently deliver best-in-class imaging, high reliability, and operator satisfaction, to help customers find threats and contrabandwith ease and confidence.Role Overview:The Desktop Support Technician will be based at the Stoke-on-Trent site but will provide effective IT desktop support to all European Sites.Responsibilities of the Desktop Support Technician:

  • Desktop support in a multi-user environment
  • Configure, maintain, and provide Desktop support to all users to ensure they can always work
  • Provide support for all applications running on servers and desktops and all hardware associated with the applications
  • Actively participate in team discussions
  • Help develop IT solutions to meet the business objectives
  • Create and maintain documentation on all IT systems
  • Uphold the companys core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork.
  • Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the companys Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.
Candidate Requirements:
  • MCP, MCSA or MCSE qualification preferred
  • Desktop support experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7, 10
  • Competent knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010 and newer (ideally including O365)
  • Experience in writing work instructions
  • Capable of working with minimum supervision
  • Knowledge of Backup Exec andor Comm Vault back up software
  • Networking experience (for desktop troubleshooting)
  • Ability to be a self-starter and finisher
  • Knowledge of iPhone / Android handsets
  • Possess a positive attitude
  • Previous experience in a customer support role
  • Highly motivated
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Full Clean UK Driving License
  • Working understanding of Lotus Notes preferred but not vital (Version 8 and above)
