Job Description

One of our key clients, a market-leading manufacturing organisation is looking for an experienced Assistant Financial Controller to head up one of their divisions. This person will be responsible for effectively controlling the financial accounts and providingkey financial data to management and key stakeholders.This will include forecasting, budgeting, month-end accounts, new product introductions, and audit activities. This candidate will also create, update, and review management account models and complete balance sheet reconciliations.Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Financial Controller

  • Assist the Financial Controller in preparing financial reporting, P&L and reviewing variances for business unit management
  • Make judgements, interpret and present financial analysis in a persuasive format, providing insights and recommendations to key stakeholders to inform and influence decisions
  • Act as a financial business partner for key stakeholders within the business unit
  • Manage year-end accounting and control processes to meet statutory requirements
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly accounts, budgets and forecasts in a timely and accurate manner
  • Produce performance indicator reports and analysis, as well as ad-hoc reports and investigations, as required by management
  • Prepares and submits monthly cash flow forecasts and budgets for the business unit
  • Liaise with and manages external auditors
  • Appraise financial risk to inform decisions
  • Appraise investment proposals associated with new products and capital expenditure
  • Manage a team to develop their skills, conduct regular performance reviews and provide guidance to ensure objectives are met and procedures
Key essentials of the Assistant Financial Controller
  • Fully Qualified Accountant (e.g., ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and management accounts processes
  • Strong understanding of Excel and experience working on SAP
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to build positive relationships at all levels
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a clear vision for team development
