Job Description

  • Must have a good grasp and application of planning and warehouse management system skills.
  • Have in depth understanding of the forecast and actual daily volumes for each day and the current week on working shift and to assist planning resource appropriately with close liaison of the Shift Manager.
  • To attend operational reviews providing relevant and accurate data in regards to shift performance.
  • Must have the ability to identify problems and to take decisive actions to resolve them through the use of in house policy or operational procedures, calling on support as appropriate.
  • Reviewing labour requirements with the Shift Manager planning against volumes and activities to produce labour requirements and work schedules to include contingency plans and overtime requirements at known choke points, fluctuations of volumes against forecast and unscheduled events.
  • Accountability for the application of good housekeeping and H&S procedures across their area of responsibility and to ensure that staff are only deployed onto activities which they have been trained on.
  • Must be able to organise and manage teams through the setting of goals and targets and know how to manage and recognise good performance.
  • People Management
  • To have a good understanding of legislation in the workplace and provide effective leadership to his or her team to encourage positive employee relations and clear communications channels with Shift Managers, Team Leaders, Administrators, PI and colleagues
  • To be aware of the shift’s overall absence levels and site tolerance levels and to liaise with the HR department.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that individual return to work meetings are conducted before colleagues commence work and to assess documents are completed correctly and returned to HR in good time
  • Customer Management
  • To understand their respective operational priorities and to be conversant with the targets contained within the contracts service level agreement and key performance indicators.
  • To be aware of the customers product range and its impact on receiving locating and dispatching its product combined with specific transport requirements for the customers – customer base.
  • To take preventive steps including regular checks on processes to ensure stock is protected and the opportunity for theft or loss is reduced.
  • Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Ability to operate Warehouse Management systems
  • Considerable experience in motivating and leading teams within a fast-moving deadline orientated environment.
  • Use of an appraisal or other performance management techniques
  • Awareness of budgeting and appropriate cost control awareness
  • Good understanding of H&S at work and its application
  • Good understanding of employment legislation
  • Shift Pattern - 4 on 4 off both days & Nights
