Job Description

Residential Senior Support Worker – £26,300 + Bonus + £40 per sleep in – Stockton on Tees, TS17 8JSThe RoleAre you a compassionate and dedicated Residential Senior Support Worker looking to make a difference in the lives of those in need If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.GAC Family Services (GACFS) is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Residential Senior Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide advice, assistance, and support to Children & Young People (C&YP) and Residential Child Care (Night)Support Workers, attending to their practical, physical, and emotional needs. You will also act as an appropriate role model and work closely with them to enable them to address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential.Key Responsibilities:The key responsibilities of a Residential Senior Support Worker include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for leading shifts and supervising a team of Residential Child Care (Night) Support Workers within the residential home.
  • Supervise Residential Child Care (Night) Support Workers and cascade information to them so that the C&YP are looked after appropriately in line with relevant legislation and inspection frameworks.
  • Maintain a high quality of care and support which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and cultural needs of C&YP within the care of GACFS.
  • Establishing positive relationships with C&YP and always offering them unconditional and positive regard.
  • Helping C&YP gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct.
  • Ensuring that each C&YPs care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs.
  • Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare.
  • Act as a key worker or co-worker for a C&YP to ensure that their care plans are up to date and that all their care needs are being met.
  • Providing advice, assistance, and support on a 1:1 basis to enable C&YP to address past and present difficulties.

  • 2 years’ residential experience working with C&YP in a residential setting.
  • Ideally a NVQ 3 in childrens Residential orpreparedness to work towards it
  • The applicant must be keen to achieve a level 5 Diploma in the above subject.
  • Full Driving Licence with access to own transport.
  • Applicants must be aged 21+.
  • Knowledge of Children’s Home Standards & Quality Standards.
