Job Description

Interaction Recruitment are seeking an experienced and motivated Machine Shop Manager to join our client’s dynamic team in Stockton-on-Tees. As the Machine Shop Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of ourclient’s precision machinery environment. You will lead a skilled team, manage workloads, and collaborate with various departments to optimize production processes and drive continuous improvement.Working Hours & Salary:

  • The basic salary for this position ranges from £36,500 to £40,500, depending on experience.
  • Monday to Thursday: 07:30 - 16:30
  • Friday: 07:30 - 12:30
  • Regular overtime available, paid at enhanced rates.
Responsibilities:
  • Utilize your extensive experience in working with both Manual & CNC machinery to guide the team in producing high-quality products according to specifications.
  • Prioritize workloads, ensuring that projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs, provide accurate quotes, and estimates for work, and maintain strong communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead in problem-solving efforts, addressing technical challenges and finding effective solutions to maintain production flow.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating manual machinery, including lathes, boring, and screw cutting, while also operating CNC machinery using Heidenhain controls as required.
  • Cultivate and negotiate new business opportunities to expand our client base and contribute to the companys growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize production processes, streamline workflows, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, implement best practices, and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the machine shop team, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional development.
  • Oversee maintenance and upkeep of machinery, ensuring that equipment is in proper working condition.
Experience/Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a precision machinery environment, with a strong background in working with both Manual & CNC machinery.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workloads, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Previous experience in customer engagement, including quoting, estimating pricing, and negotiation of new business.
  • Proficiency in operating manual machinery, including lathes, boring, and screw cutting.
  • Experience operating CNC machinery using Heidenhain controls.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various departments.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience is a must.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and quality assurance standards.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, always seeking ways to enhance processes and efficiency.
  • Flexible to work overtime when required.
