The organisation is fast becoming a real focus for innovative, exciting health research world-wide.The success over the past decade to create a major resource for scientific endeavour has generated multi-million-pound investments to improve the resource furtherfrom undertaking key biochemistry assays to genotyping and exome sequencing and an ambitiousproject to MR image 100,000 participants (the biggest research study of its kind ever undertaken). Supporting and running alongside these large-scale flagship projects are a number of complementary initiatives which, whilst often smaller in scale, are oftenequally innovative and ground-breaking. It is for these initiatives (and internal improvement projects) that UK Biobank is currently looking to recruit a Laboratory Project Manager.Thousands of researchers are now using UK Biobank, and papers are being published in key research journals weekly. The resource relies on maintaining the generous and active support of its volunteer participants to achieve its goal of making major improvementsto the health of future generations.If you could be as excited about this resource as we are, see what approved researchers have to say about the company.Project ManagerThe Role:An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join UK Biobank to manage key client projects. As a project manager, you will need to track work to be completed, set deadlines and delegate tasks to your project team, identifyingany potential risks. Your job will be to coordinate people and processes to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and produce the desired results. You will be the go-to person for everything involving a projects organisation and timeline. Specificproject manager responsibilities include developing detailed project plans, ensuring resource availability and allocation and delivering every project on time within budget and scope. If you are interested in this position and have the right skills then wewant to hear from you!The post holder will act as a Project Manager for individual UK Biobank Laboratory projects and will be responsible for ensuring that all proj40ects (within their portfolio) produce the required deliverables within the specified constraints of time and cost,and to the pre-defined quality standards of UK Biobank. This role would suit a project management with experience in a laboratory setting, comfortable working across the full project lifecycle. As a Project Manager, you will work in a varied and stimulatingenvironment at an exciting time for UK Biobank.We are looking for an individual who is dynamic, motivated, organised, and enthusiastic with previous project manager experience. If you think this is something that you would be interested in please read on for the person specification requirements.Project Manager - You:Essential:- Educated to degree level (in a relevant discipline)- 2 years proven track record / demonstrable success in a role involving project management- Experience of working to a recognised project management methodology- IT literate and skilled in the use of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and MS Project- Experience of working within ISO quality systems (ISO9001 and 27001)- Experience of change management- Able to work under pressure, exercise good judgement and appropriately prioritise tasks- Able to work in a collaborative manner with internal and external stakeholders at all levels- Possess a demonstrable commitment to quality - UK Biobank will expect the post-holder to set and maintain high standards of professionalism and actively manage project quality goals- Able to work independently and without close day-to-day supervision, reporting on progress through both formal and informal channels and escalating issues as appropriate- Attentive to details and be able to demonstrate a methodical approach- Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)- Excellent Influencing and negotiating skillsDesirable:- BSc in a relevant life sciences discipline or equivalent- Experience of working to the requirements of a relevant laboratory ISO standard (e.g. ISO17025, ISO15189), GxP or equivalent- PRINCE2 qualificationTo submit your CV for this exciting Project Manager opportunity, please press Apply now.
