Project Accountant; based in Cheadle; 6-9 month contract An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Accountant to work for a global defence organisation based in Cheadle. reporting to the Business Financial Controller, the primary purpose of the Project Accountant is to work as a Finance Business Partner within the operational team driving the efficient delivery of key business information. The Project Accountant will also provide finance expertise and insight in to the bids, self-funded research & development activities and multi-year budget processes. As a qualified accountant with demonstrable commercial finance experience in a long term project environment, the Project Accountant will have strong business partnering, stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills and, in particular, the ability to communicate with senior level individuals. The sucessful candidate will be proactive, dynamic and self-motivated with a desire to find and deliver improvements. In addition, the jobholder will have the ability to work independently as well as together with both finance and non-finance professionals. Key Responsibilities - Finance lead for a portfolio of Projects within the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Sector. - Review and approval of all Projects, Bids and SFRD within the portfolio. - Understanding of the ERP and Planning Tools - Management of Financial Risks and Opportunities within the portfolio. - Provide accurate and timely Sales, Margin, Order Intake and Cash forecasts. - Provide finance expertise to the bid gate review process. - Take a key role in the multi-year budget process, working with key operational stakeholders. The successful candidate will have previous project accounting experience with experience of accounting for significant value long-term contracts. Excellent analytical skills are required with the ability to interpret and present data to key stakeholders. You will have experience of monthly financial reporting against tight deadlines. Financial planning, forecasting and budgeting experience is required. Excellent presentation and communication skills are essential with the ability to transmit information to non-finance professionals. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills are required. You will be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel. Experience with ERP systems (i.e. Oracle, SAP). would be and advantage as well as Primavera. Experience of working within the defence sector would be an advantage. The jobholder will be fully qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or relevant equivalent, with a number of years PQE.
