We expect the highest standards for all of our students and this is evidenced year after year by our achievement and progressionoutcomes.The Pastoral Support Mentor responsbilities:In this role you will support learners to achieve and progress by supporting them in relation to their social and emotional wellbeing, their mental health and any personal and college issues that prevent them from achieving their potential. Key areas ofresponsibility for this Pastoral Support Mentor role include:-

  • To undertake group and 1:1 meetings with a cohort of learners identified as requiring intervention at the designated campus.
  • To work collaboratively with the Team Leader Learner Services and curriculum teams to follow up concerns regarding achievement, retention and/or behaviour to create a tiered intervention approach.
  • To build and maintain supportive relationships (one to one and small groups) to assist in the personal and social development of students by providing appropriate guidance and support
  • To assist the Programme Leader for Learner Services with all aspects of delivery of the Groups mental health, emotional and social wellbeing strategy in order to provide support for the most at risk students at college.
  • To identify concerns, risks and barriers to students progress and work with parents/carers, colleagues and external agencies in order to overcome them.
In order to be successful in this Pastoral Support Mentor role you must have numeracy and literacy at level 2 and substantial experience dealing with learners who may experience dealing with trauma, anxiety and depression, suicidal thoughts, and self harm.Benefits of this Pastoral Support Mentor position
