UK Biobank have an exciting opportunity for an IT Service Manager to join their growing team based in Stockport, Manchester.Job Title: IT Service ManagerLocation: Stockport, ManchesterSalary: £40,000 to £50,000 based on experience + benefitsJob Type: Permanent – Full TimeWe are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motived IT Service Manager to establish and promote service management disciplines as UK Biobank implements a Managed Informatics Platform to host and provide access to the petabyte scale health-related data resource. This is an opportunity to build the service management function within UK Biobank at a time of change and transformation within the organisation.IT Service Manager - The Role:You will establish, develop, and promote across UK Biobank service management disciplines based on a recognised Service Management Framework.Your experience in service delivery will enable you to manage key relationships internally and externally; setup and monitor effective OLAs, SLAs, and KPI reporting to ensure the services needed to allow the 15,000 registered researchers from 85 countries to access and work with our health-related data resource.Ensuring the services are user focused, and design and delivery meets their needs. As we launch our new platform, you will play a key role in collating and representing user feedback.You will provide and oversee technical support and assistance for service incidents, taking ownership of, and acting as an escalation point for incidents and problems.UK Biobank is continually adding additional data and new datasets to the resource: you will ensure that the impact of new data is understood and factored into capacity plans. That all accompanying documentation are developed and available upon release.IT Service Manager - You:Essential- Experience of working as an IT Service Manager to implement service management processes in a multi-supplier vendor environment- Experience managing third party suppliers, understanding how to influence stakeholders and manage relationships effectively- Practitioner-level Certification in a recognised Service Management Framework such-as ITIL v3 Intermediate- Technical skills to understand the core technical components of the IT services to lead complex problem determination- A strategic approach to defining services and service improvements, with the ability to provide guidance and direction to others to ensure the organisation is getting the best from these services- The ability to synthesise information into recommendations for action, and experience with data analysis to define, monitor and report KPIs- The ability to collaborate with end users and to internally represent their needs-- The ability to work with minimal direction, but to do so within a team when needed using your excellent verbal and written communication skills to lead, influence and where required negotiate with others- Well-developed skills in the use of MS Office, MS Project, and Power BI (or similar)Desirable- Experience of cloud-delivered services, ideally Iaas / PaaS- Experience of working in a scientific research and/or Life Sciences- Experience in the implementation of large-scale IT applications- Experience in service management of international customer facing application- Certification in recognised Service Management Framework equivalent to ITIL v3 Expert or above- Degree in a relevant subjectIT Service Manager - Why Join Us:UK Biobank is a world leading health-related data resource: we collect a make available a wide range of data about our cohort of 500,000 participants, to allow industry and academic scientists to conduct research that will improve the health of future generations.A not-for-profit charity, we recruited participants aged 40 to 69 years old between 2006 and 2010, with the commitment of following this cohort for 30 years. These participants provided physical measures, provided biological samples, and completed questionnaires.The data we obtained is regularly enhanced with healthcare data linked from NHS services. Enhancement projects are regularly carried out with the cohort which generate additional large and varied datasets, e.g: DICOM images, accelerometer data, and whole exome and whole genome sequence data.Sequence data at this scale is unprecedented and requires innovative technological solutions.
