Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CMM Programmer/Operator for our client based in Stockport who play a major part in the Manufacturing Industry, working on high profile projects for the Military and MoD.Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be able to initially work on secondment in Germany whilst on training and development for approx. 3-6 months, therefore applicants must hold a current valid passport.Accommodation and Monthly Travel Allowance is provided.Job Purpose:You would be responsible for creating inspection programs for coordinate measuring machines and ensuring the machines are properly working throughout programming scripts and tests.You would also be responsible for part dimensional data analysis, gauge control and gauge calibration and testing.As the CMM Programmer/Operator, your duties will Include:

  • Perform mechanical inspection and alignment of precision assemblies on in-house as well as vendor produced mechanical components.
  • Set up and operate metrology equipment, including conventional coordinate measuring machines and/or portable articulating arm coordinate measuring machines (e.g. Faro).
  • Read and interpret elementary engineering drawings in order to be able to properly set-up parts/assemblies for CMM measurement.
  • Utilise and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.
  • Communicate with others to gain a clear understanding of design intent for each project.
  • Clearly and effectively report measurement results to stakeholders.
  • Support and organise dimensional PPAP documentation to customer approval.
  • Document and evaluate historical data to determine calibration intervals.
  • The successful CMM Programmer/Operator will have the following skills:
  • Must have working experience with a Manufacturing/Engineering environment, ideally on sub assembly components for either Aerospace, MOD, Motorsport, Oil & Gas or Nuclear.
  • Must have 3D CAD and GD&T experience.
  • CMM experience, including use of measuring arms (e.g. Faro)
  • APQP/PPAP knowledge.
  • R&R studies
  • Ability to use basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers etc.
  • Excellent organisational and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
