Job Description

One-to-One HLTA Role in Hazel Grove: Join Our Dedicated Team!Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children with special educational needs (SEN) Do you have the skills and empathy required to support a child who needs regular attention, breaks in learning, and assistance with challengingbehaviour If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!At a Hazel Grove School school, Tradewind are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as a One-to-One Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). In this role, you will be working closely with a SEN child, providing them with the personalisedsupport they require to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support: As a One-to-One HLTA, your main responsibility will be to provide individualised attention to our SEN child. You will assist them in staying engaged with their learning by offering regular breaks and interventions tailored totheir needs.
  • Support self-regulation: Our ideal candidate will have experience in helping children with self-regulation. You will use your expertise and understanding of the childs specific challenges to develop strategies that promote their emotional well-being andhelp them manage their behaviour effectively.
  • Foster engagement outside the classroom: Recognising the importance of a holistic learning experience, you will take the initiative to engage the child in activities beyond the classroom. This may involve short walks or interventions in alternative environments,helping to keep their attention and enthusiasm high.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team: Effective communication and collaboration with teachers and other support staff will be essential in ensuring a cohesive and inclusive learning environment. You will work closely with the class teacher to align interventionsand ensure consistency in the childs support.
  • Requirements:
  • Relevant qualifications and experience: A minimum of a Level 3 teaching assistant qualification or equivalent, along with experience working with children with special educational needs, is essential for this role. Experience in supporting children withchallenging behaviour and self-regulation is highly desirable.
  • Empathy and patience: The successful candidate must possess a deep empathy for children with SEN, understanding their unique challenges and providing the patience and support they require to flourish.
  • Proactive and adaptable: You should be a proactive individual who can think on their feet and adapt strategies to meet the childs changing needs. Being creative and resourceful in finding engaging activities is a definite plus.
  • Strong communication skills: Excellent communication skills are crucial for effective collaboration with the teaching team, parents, and external professionals. You should be able to provide clear feedback and maintain open lines of communication.
