Job Description

Purpose of the roleYou will assist in the development of molecular assays with on-strip dry reagents for the companys platform as part of the Molecular assay development team.Client DetailsCompany OverviewMy client is a MedTech company that are innovating new and adaptable assay platform technologies. They are transforming the In Vitro Diagnostic testing space and are helping to provide more effective, cost-efficient healthcare for everyone. The company is eradicating the need for blood labs. Their affordability means instruments are being shipped to third world countries, helping those in need. They currently have 1000+ people with a plan to be over 20,000 in the next three years. Now is an exciting time for them. They are expanding fast.DescriptionKey Responsibilities

  • Develop molecular assay methodologies and reagents for use in the assay platform.
  • Use statistical tools to design, execution and analysis of appropriate experiments for the purpose of assessing and improving molecular assay reagent formulations.
  • Creating and maintaining quality records for the purpose of recording and documenting reagent development progress and associated experiments.
  • Ensure that the developed molecular assay is capable of meeting the required performance, stability and cost requirements of the assay platforms.
  • Writing and updating procedures.
  • Completing COSHH assessments as and when required.
  • Ensuring you are trained on all appropriate procedures and training new personnel if and when required.
  • Create and maintain quality records for the process of recording and documenting molecular assay development progress and associated experiments.
  • Raising, investigating and closing non-conformances to agreed timelines.
  • Ensuring you work in conjunction with the quality policy and objectives.
  • Solve problems encountered during assay development innovatively and independently.
  • Help less experienced members of the assay development team to carry out experiments effectively when required.
  • ProfileMust have skills
  • Degree qualified in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Knowledge and experience working with various isothermal amplification techniques and detailed understanding of PCR and primer design
  • Extensive experience of working with DNA and RNA
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of factors which drive molecular assay performance (including sensitivity, contamination, reproducibility and precision).
  • High level of skill in problem solving and innovation
  • Ability to write clear and concise protocols for complex assay and reagent manufacturing procedures.
  • Experience of working in a laboratory within GLP + GDP guidelines
  • Computer literacy and data analysis skills
