Job Description

Red Recruitment is recruiting a Heavy Material Handling Mechanic on behalf of our client who is an established, family-run business that specialises in Port Terminal Operations. This job will be predominantly based in London Gateway but will require youto travel to the other site in Newham when required. The salary for this position is £45,000 per annum and will require you to hold a full valid UK driving licence.Benefits and Package for a Heavy Material Handling Mechanic:

  • Salary: From £45,000 per annum
  • Hours: Monday - Friday, proposed working hours are 7.30am - 4.30pm but flexibility can be arranged if core hours are covered
  • Weekend availability may be required
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Location: East London
  • Travel between the two sites, London Gateway and Newham will be required

Key Responsibilities of a Heavy Material Handling Mechanic:
  • Providing preventative maintenance support to both sites
  • Repairing and servicing of equipment
  • Ensuring completion of company documentation relating to servicing and repairs
  • Maintaining tools and equipment to a high standard
  • Promoting a positive safety culture throughout the team and promptly reporting any accidents or incidents
Key Skills and Requirements of a Heavy Material Handling Mechanic:
  • Must have experience working on heavy material handling equipment
  • Good understanding of relevant health and safety requirements of role
  • Experience in servicing/repairing/diagnosing components
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatics
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to changing workload
  • Full UK driving licence
