Job Description

Please visit our website at strive . co . uk for additional roles across engineering, production, warehouse & transport operations.Our client is a leading FMCG Distributor, who are currently recruiting for a Transport Planner a their site in Cannock, Staffordshire on a Sunday to Thursday basis, 10am - 7pm (working from home on a Sunday).As Transport Planner you will ensure all routes are planned in the most efficient and feasible way in line with legal requirements and depot KPIs using the Transport planning software.Key Responsibilities of the Transport Planner:

  • Complete daily route planning using Paragon to ensure routes are feasible, accurate and legal, taking into account all master data and feasibility messages.
  • Working with the Transport Team managers & Coordinators to plan according to legal Working Time Directive (WTD) requirements
  • Resource planning against available vehicles and Driver availability, working in conjunction with the Transport Management team
  • Constantly review the plan, making daily decisions and longer term planning strategies to drive down cost to serve / improve service to Customers
  • Optimise vehicle capacity and effectively plan routes to ensure balanced workloads across all multi drop drivers
The Ideal Candidate for Transport Planner:
  • Previous Planning experience within a busy transport department
  • Eye for detail and strong organisational skills
  • Good analytical investigation skills
  • Legal and compliance knowledge (Tachograph and working time directive legislation)
