Job Description

Operations Manager, £35,000, StaffordshirePurposeAs the Operations Manager for a growing, historic military museum, you will play an important role in the organisation by providing hands-on operational management and playing a key role in the development of one of the top 5 military museums in the UK.ResponsibilitiesAs Operations Manager youll:

  • Act as Secretary to the Board of Trustees, attending twice yearly meetings as well as running a monthly Museum Management Committee
  • Be responsible for all supporting staff and volunteers, as well as recruiting new members, where necessary
  • Manage the museums budget, including annual planning and reporting, working alongside the Museum Office Manager, Accountant and the Trustees Investment Committee.
  • Plan and support all museum activities and events, including the Museums School Program
  • Involvement with Marketing the Museum, its events and activities
  • Play a vital role in managing projects across the museum as it expands
  • BackgroundYoull:
  • Ideally have a degree in a relevant subject, such as History
  • Have experience working in the Heritage Sector, preferably within museums
  • Have a good knowledge and keen interest in History, particularly that of the British Army
  • Be a strong communicator with both internal and external stakeholders, with a high standard of written and verbal communication
  • Have familiarity with managing budgets, with knowledge of producing budget plans
  • Be a trustworthy, committed and enthusiastic team player

Based in Staffordshire, the museum has an extensive collection of military paraphernalia including armoured vehicles from WW1 and WW2 as well as a replica WW1 trench. The team you will be joining have a real passion for military history, with many of them being veterans.Package The new Operations Manager is considered an integral player within the museum management team.
