Job Description

Role: Production Engineer / Offline ProgrammerShifts: Days8am5pm (40 hours)Salary: up to c£42,000Location: St NeotsGeneral Description:

  • To review and fully engineer a wide range of components, using relevant software, ensuring component suitability for manufacturing in the companys CNC machine shop.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review production intent parts at the quotation stage ensuring suitability for manufacturing, highlighting any areas of concern regarding tolerances or suitability of design for the manufacturing process.
  • Design, using Inventor 3d modelling software, suitable machining fixtures for production components
  • Produce suitable drawings for the manufacture of machining fixtures
  • Produce suitable G code CNC programs, using the latest Edgecam software, for the efficient manufacture of a wide range of components
  • Identify and specify relevant cutting tools ensuring the most economical and efficient material removal rates
  • Liaise with relevant production staff to ensure smooth implementation and efficient production of components
  • Liaise with clients design and engineering departments in order to support their desire for an economical designed for manufacturing component
  • Support production staff with any engineering production related issues, seeing the issue through to resolution
  • Periodically support sales visits, offering technical support as required
Work Experience:
  • Time served, fully skilled CNC machinist with relevant job and software knowledge and experience in a similar environment
  • Experience using Inventor 3d solid modelling or similar as well as Edgecam or similar CAM software
  • Experience working with castings would prove an advantage as would a good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
