Job Description

Are you a Junior Developer or an IT Graduate looking to join a great award-winning company£25,000 - £35,000 depending on experience + an excellent benefits package. Full-time, Permanent.Location: either Bristol, Portsmouth, Hall Green or St. Ives (Cambridgeshire) What will my duties be As the Junior Developer youll work in the Broker Platform division, maintaining and developing the Real Time Pricing (RTP) functions across the business. Reporting to the Broker Platform Support Manager youll be responsible for implementing new and maintainingexisting pricing rules as per business requirements and to agreed timescales. Youll need to have experience with Java 8, Drools, Java Unit Testing (Junit), GIT, Excel, CSV, XML, JSON & Azure DevOps. Any experience with CDL Strata and Open GI is a bonus. Your duties will include:

  • Implementing changes in a timely manner for Concessions, Earnings, Optional extra pricing and Instalment Plan assignments.
  • To ensure that all code is reviewed / tested for known vulnerabilities and complies with relevant regulations and business adopted practices before being deployed into production.
  • To utilise robust / modern software development lifecycle toolsets and methods of delivery, as well as test automation.
  • To participate in the definition of new developments and assist in the estimation of resource required to deliver solutions meeting these designs.
  • To progressively deliver functioning solutions to project stake holders across the business.
  • Provide assistance in the co-ordination and completing of activities related to the RTP systems covering a variety of administrative duties including monitoring and improving documentation.
  • To undertake other reasonable responsibilities and projects as instructed by your line manager.
  • Where applicable, to adhere to Company processes to ensure that DPA, FCA, TCF and other regulatory requirements are met.
Key Skills and Knowledge:
  • Computer literate including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Exposure to Java 8, Drools, Java Unit Testing (Junit), GIT, Excel, CSV, XML, JSON & Azure DevOps
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a confident and positive approach
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Adaptable to different situations and environments
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Ability to analyse problems and demonstrate sound and effective judgement
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Desirable Skills:
  • CDL Strata experience
  • Open GI experience
  • Insurance industry experience
  • General understanding of insurance practices and principles
