Job Description

£20,000 to £27,000 DOE Days Mon- FriCambridgePermanentKAP Technical are working with a high-tech manufacturing company specialising in the welding and fabrication of stainless-steel assemblies and gas and fluid handling systems.Our client is looking for an estimator to join our team and to expand our estimating and assist with quoting activities.Estimator/Junior EstimatorThe successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Estimator and/or Operations Director, and the role will include.

  • Discussing clients’ requirements alongside the Sales team
  • Interpreting clients’ drawings and specifications
  • Working with the production team to determine a manufacturing process and production times.
  • Creating a Bill of Materials
  • Working with the supply chain to source parts and sub-contract activities
  • To compile costings and detailed proposals
  • To work with the Sales team to promote proposal to client.
  • To handover project to purchasing and production on successful delivery of proposal
  • To support production and purchasing throughout project as required
The successful candidate will be:
  • Have experience or an active interest as an estimator within the manufacturing industry.
  • Accurate and numerate with great attention to detail.
  • Technically and commercially aware, and able to understand and interpret drawings and other information.
  • Able to compile and/or assist with detailed quotations.
  • Able to manage their own workload, and that of their department, and achieve set deadlines.
  • A good communicator
  • Able to work within a team.
  • Be pro-active.
  • Be versatile.
  • Educated to A-level of higher.
